How To Compete
We’ve done some testing and instead of just posting videos, the setup of the CouchVid-20 comp will be held using the Zoom app. The setup will be similar to how our friends in Los Angeles did for their “We Are The World” online competition at the end of May.
If you’re unable to join us live on Saturday, email us at registration@beardleague.org and we’ll send you instructions the Sunday before on how to submit a video and photos.
We’ll have the competitors sign into the CouchVid-20 Zoom meeting during specific blocks between 1:00 PM and 8:00 PM Eastern (10 AM-5:00 PM Pacific), based on your category.
Once you’re signed in for your category, we’ll have you in wait in Virtual Competitor Lineup Meeting Room. When you’re up next, the Moderator will then pull you into the live meeting room with the judges one by one, you'll be judged then placed back in the queue. Be sure to stay signed in until we give the go-ahead to leave.
After everyone in the category has met with the judges, we’ll have all of the competitors together to allow the judges to sort out their final scores before moving the judges into their own meeting room for deliberations. While they’re doing that, you’ll be able to hang out and socialize with your fellow competitors from all over.
Afterward, we’ll announce the placings for the category, and publish the scores online after the comp.
But For Now...
We’ll send out an updated schedule via email and in the Facebook event as we get a better idea of the number of competitors in each category. It will also include tips and tricks on how to look your best in the livestream for the judges and the folks at home!
How To Watch The Livestream on July 18
The livestream will start on Saturday July 18th, starting at 1:00 p.m. Eastern at https://www.twitch.tv/rvabeardleague!
The day of the comp, sit back and relax. Watch the livestream with some friends and a drink of choice.

SCORING PER CATEGORY
Each judge will give a score between 10 and 5 points to each contestant, with the highest points awarded to the competitors they think best fit the criteria. Half points are possible. No-shows will automatically receive a score of 0.
The contestants in each category will be presented in a group before the judges.
Points of 10.0, 9.5 and 9.0 can only be given once by each judge in each category and must be awarded. Each judge can then award any of the other points as often as they like.
Ties - The positions 1st, 2nd and 3rd must be decided clearly. In the event of equal scores (a tie) for 1st, 2nd or 3rd place, a second vote will be conducted.
In the event of two competitors tieing again, the judges will be asked to award either 10 or 8 points to each contestant. The judges will not know whether the re-scoring is for 1st & 2nd place, or 2nd & 3rd place.
In the event of three competitor tie, the judges will be asked to award 10, 8, or 5 points to each contestant. (Highest points, again, being the most preferred).
